 ابو الحسن مدائنی سے مردی ہے کےاحمد بن سمیط نے پانچ سو أدمیوں کوقید کر کے مختار کے سامنے پیشں کیا۔ اسنے ان میں سےدو سو چالیس کو قتل کیا اور بعض کو قید کیا اور بعض کو قید کیا اور بعض کو احسان رکھ کر رہا کر دیا قیدیوں میں سراقہ بن مرداس البارقی بھی تھا پھر اس کے قتل کا حکم دیا سراقہ نے کہا نہیں واللہ تو مجھے قتل مت کر جب تک میں خود تیرے ساتھ مل کر اپنے گھر کی اینٹ اینٹ نہ ڈھا دوں۔مختار نے کہا تجھے کیسے معلوم ہوگیا۔اس نے کہا اخبار صادقہ سے جو پیشنگوئ کرنے والی کتابوں میں درج ہیں تو مختار نے عبدالللہ بن کامل اور ابی عمرہ سے مخاطب ہوکر کہا کہ ہمارے اسرار کو کون تحقیق کرے گا اور حکم دیا کہ اس سے تخیلہ میں گفتگو کریں تنہائ میں سراقہ نے کہا ہم کو ایسی قوم نے قید کیا ہے جس کو ہم نہیں دیکھتے انہوں نے کہا وہ یہی لوگ ہمارے ساتھی ہیں جو خدا کے سپاہی ہیں سراقہ نے کہا نہیں والللہ ہمیں ایسی قوم نے قید کیا تھا جن کےسروں پر سرخ عمامے تھے وہ ابلق گھوڑوں پر   سوار تھے اور أسمان اور زمین کے درمیان اڑ رہے تھے مختار نے کہا یہ الللہ کے فرشتے تھے اے سراقہ یہ واقعہ لوگوں کو بتا دے سراقہ کہتا ہے کہ پھر میں نے مینار پر چڑھ کر لوگوں کو یہ قصہ سنایا اور ان سے قسم کھا کر بیان کیا اس کے بعد میں رہا کر دیا گیا
